Jane Tompkins completed West of Everything, a study of popular Western novels and films, which will be published by Oxford University Press in the fall of 1991. In addition, she wrote two pieces on education — one for Change, the other for College English — and gave the keynote address at the meeting of the Association of General and Liberal Studies.
