Nicole Y. Gaglia

Prior to joining the Center, Nicole served as a Research Associate at the Franklin Humanities Institute at Duke, where she was the grant coordinator for Humanities Unbounded, a five-year initiative designed to nurture collaboration and inventive expressions of the humanities on Duke’s campus and greater communities.
Nicole earned a PhD in art history from Duke University, specializing in the history of modern Japanese art and visual culture, with a focus on painting, prints, photography, and the body. She also holds an MA in East Asian studies from the University of California, Los Angeles and a BA in art history, summa cum laude, from the University of California, Irvine.
