Fellowship Work Summary, 2018–19

Ted Underwood completed the index for Distant Horizons: Digital Evidence and Literary Change, which was published by University of Chicago Press in February 2019. He also wrote three articles related to his next book, including “Machine Learning and Human Perspective” for PMLA (January 2020), “NovelTM Data Sets for English-Language Fiction, 1700–2009” for The Journal of Cultural Analytics (spring 2020) and “The Theoretical Divide Driving Debates about Computation” for Critical Inquiry (spring 2020). He also conducted work on a database of nineteenth- and twentieth-century book reviews.
