Fellowship Work Summary, 1992–93

Susan Porter Benson gathered material for and wrote two and a half chapters of a book on the working-class family economy in the United States between 1919 and 1941. Part of one of these chapters will appear as an essay—"Marriage and the Working-Class Family Economy in the United States, 1919-1941: Breadwinning, Consumption, and Gender"—in Conspicuous Construction, edited by Victoria de Grazia and Ellen Furlough (University of California Press).
