Stephanie J. Shaw completed the index for What a Woman Ought to Be and to Do: Black Professional Women Workers during the Jim Crow Era (University of Chicago Press, 1996) and concentrated on her new project, Resistance and Relations: Female Slaves in the Nineteenth-Century South.
