Richard Lyman Bushman devoted most of the year to formulating a detailed outline for a book on Northern and Southern yeoman farmers from 1700 to 1860. He also wrote an essay, "The Contours of Early American Agricultural History," which he presented at the Institute of Early American History and Culture in Williamsburg, Virginia.
