Fellowship Work Summary, 2001–02
Nicholas Frankel wrote three chapters for his book The Discourse of Decoration: Ornament and Design in Victorian Britain. His essay entitled "The Ecstasy of Decoration: Owen Jones's The Grammar of Ornament" will appear in the journal Nineteenth Century Art Worldwide (February 2003), and another essay entitled "The Ecology of Decoration: Design and Environment in the Writings of William Morris" is currently under publisher's review. He also wrote a review essay titled "The Hermeneutic Value of Material Texts," which will appear in TEXT: Transactions of the Society for Textual Scholarship 15 (2002).
