Fellowship Work Summary, 2001–02

Melinda J. Gough completed two chapters of her book, entitled Divine Beauty: Henrietta Maria and Women's Courtly Performance in Early Seventeenth-Century France and England. She also translated and edited one of the queen's court ballets discussed in her monograph, and began transcribing its extant music for voice and lute accompaniment. She wrote two articles related to her book project: " 'Not as myself': The Queen's Voice in Tempe Restored" (forthcoming in Modern Philology) and "A Newly Discovered Performance by Henrietta Maria" (forthcoming in the Huntington Library Quarterly 65.4 [2002]).
