Fellowship Work Summary, 2011–12

Matthew S. Gordon completed a draft of his biography of Ahmad ibn Tulun, a medieval governor of Egypt, and submitted an article to a collected volume on Samarra, the medieval Islamic capital. He also made considerable progress on his new project on slavery and social mobility in the medieval Islamic Near East.
