Margaret Humphreys did research and wrote four chapters for her book project Intensely Human: The Health of Black Soldiers in the American Civil War (under contract with Johns Hopkins University Press); did research for a another book on the impact of the Civil War on American medicine (also under contract with Johns Hopkins University Press); and wrote an article, "A Stranger in Our Camps: Typhus in the American Civil War," for the Bulletin of the History of Medicine (forthcoming Summer 2006).
