Fellowship Work Summary
John N. King completed the final stages of research for “Controversial Merriment”: Milton and Ecclesiastical Satire. He wrote two chapters, redrafted another, and revised the six remaining chapters of the book. He submitted book reviews to Literature and History, Reformation, and Renaissance Quarterly. He did a bibliographical survey and gathered copies of articles on a sixteenth‑century British text, John Foxe’s Acts and Monuments of the Christian Martyrs (generally known as The Book of Martyrs). He spoke on John Foxe and Elizabethan polemics at a meeting of the Group for Early Modern Cultural Studies hosted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
