John Heil polished the draft of a volume on the philosophy of mind that will be published in 1998 by Routledge. He wrote papers on "Predicates and Properties" and "Multiple Realizability"; contributed an entry on "Mental Causation" to The MIT Encyclopedia of the Cognitive Sciences; reviewed volumes for the Times Literary Supplement and for Philosophical Books; and completed two essays— "Rules and Powers" (with C. B. Martin) for Philosophical Perspectives and "Philosophy of Mind," a chapter for Contemporary British and American Philosophers (Beijing: People's Press).
