Joanne Rappaport wrote the introduction, four of the seven chapters, and the epilogue for her book Intercultural Utopias: Public Intellectuals and Ethnic Pluralism in Colombia. She made revisions to a draft of a book on indigenous literacy in the northern Andes in the colonial period, which has the provisional title of Colonial Culture Rendered: Alphabetic and Visual Literacy in the Andes, 16th to 18th Centuries (under contract with Duke University Press). She also wrote an article, "Innovative Resistance in Cauca," for Cultural Survival Quarterly (winter 2003).
