James Chappel, Duke University
James Chappel (Delta Delta Delta Fellow, spring semester) conceptualized, researched, and drafted a major research article on the history of aging, gender, and temporality in nineteenth century Germany. This became the basis for a chapter in, and a proposal for, his book on aging and global history, tentatively entitled The Ends of Life: The Past and Future of Old Age. Chappel is assistant professor of history at Duke University.
