Fellowship Work Summary, 1990–91

Henry Binford wrote two chapters of The Invention of the Slum in America, 1840-1890, and he lectured on this subject at Wake Forest University. He also completed "The Cultural Problem of Poverty and the Construction of Urban Relationships," "Commercial, Domestic, and Christian Spheres in the Antebellum American City," and an essay on the relation between race and color in twentieth-century academic culture.
