Gladys-Marie Fry spent the year working on her project "'In Them Days Everyone Wore Beads': A Study of Slave Dress and Bodily Adornment." She curated "From the African Loom to the American Quilt," an exhibition of African American quilts at the National Humanities Center, and "Man Made," an exhibition of quilts by African American men, at the Smithsonian Institution.
