Cynthia Brokaw made progress on her book Transforming the Frontier: Education, Book Culture, and the Rise of “Sichuan Learning.” She coedited and coauthored the introduction to The History of the Book in East Asia (Ashgate, 2013) and wrote “Spreading Civilization: The Distribution of Commercial Imprints in Late Imperial China” to appear in a volume of proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Sinology.
