Carolyn Merchant spent her time writing and revising two books: The Columbia Guide to American Environmental History (Columbia University Press, forthcoming, 2002) and Reinventing Eden (Routledge, forthcoming, 2003). With National Humanities Center colleague, Shepard Krech III, and John McNeill, she began editing The International Encyclopedia of Environmental History (Routledge, forthcoming, 2003).
