Fellowship Work Summary, 1992–93

Barbara Herrnstein Smith wrote extended sections of a book tentatively titled "Belief and Resistance: The Dynamics of Contemporary Theoretical Controversy"; finished "Doing without Meaning," a paper she delivered at the Modern Language Association annual meeting and a version of which will be a chapter in her book; and revised two conference papers for publication—"Circling Around, Knocking Over, Playing Out," forthcoming in Questions of Evidence, edited by James Chandler, Harry Haratoonian, and Arnold Davidson (University of Chicago Press), and "Unloading the Self-Refutation Charge" (Common Knowledge, Autumn 1993).
