Fellowship Work Summary, 1992–93

Barbara Herrnstein Smith wrote extended sections of a book tentatively titled "Belief and Resistance: The Dynamics of Contemporary Theoretical Controversy"; finished "Doing without Meaning," a paper she deliv-ered at the Modern Language Association annual meeting and a version of which will be a chapter in her book; and revised two conference papers for publication—"Circling Around, Knocking Over, Play-ing Out," forthcoming in Questions of Evidence, edited by James Chandler, Harry Haratoonian, and Arnold Davidson (University of Chicago Press), and "Unloading the Self-Refutation Charge" (Common Knowledge, Autumn 1993).
