Nicole Y. Gaglia, Public Engagement Programs Operations Specialist
Nicole Y. Gaglia, Public Engagement Programs Operations Specialist at the National Humanities Center, plays a key role in supporting and facilitating the Center’s public-facing initiatives. Her background and academic expertise equip her with a deep understanding of how to make complex humanities topics accessible and engaging for a broader audience.

Prior to joining the Center, Nicole served as a Research Associate at the Franklin Humanities Institute at Duke, where she was the grant coordinator for Humanities Unbounded, a five-year initiative designed to nurture collaboration and inventive expressions of the humanities on Duke’s campus and greater communities.

Nicole earned a PhD in art history from Duke University, specializing in the history of modern Japanese art and visual culture, with a focus on painting, prints, photography, and the body. She also holds an MA in East Asian studies from the University of California, Los Angeles and a BA in art history, summa cum laude, from the University of California, Irvine.
