Fellowship Work Summary, 2024–25

Belle Boggs drafted six chapters of her work in progress, Big Yellow Bus: The Essential American History of a Disappearing Public Good (Beacon Press, forthcoming). She revised, edited, and proofread her cowritten book, The Legend of Wyatt Outlaw: From Reconstruction through Black Lives Matter (The University of North Carolina Press, forthcoming, January 2026). She also wrote a climate annotation essay for Ecotone based on school bus research, “ᎾᏙᎴᏆᏍᎩ ᎤᏂᎩᎸᏙᏗ (‘It Carries Students’): Climate Resilience Rolls in on Yellow Buses in Cherokee, NC.” This annotation includes a short essay by Catcuce Tiger, a 12-year-old tribal member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
