National Humanities Center Unveils New Website and Visual Identity

The National Humanities Center (NHC) has launched a new, redesigned website and a refreshed visual identity.
These changes mark a new era in the life of the Center, reflecting its role as a vibrant, forward-thinking institution and building on its prestigious history of supporting excellence in humanities scholarship and teaching. While the Center remains a sanctuary for rigorous research, the updated look and enhanced online presence highlight its continuing evolution as a dynamic hub of critical thought, active collaboration, and accessible scholarship.
“Despite common misperceptions, the humanities are a dynamic set of practices that change and grow. As new insights help reshape our understanding of human history, thought, and cultural expression, they allow us to better respond to the issues that affect our lives and the world around us,” said NHC President and Director Blair LM Kelley. “Our goal with the new logo and refreshed website is to provide a visual language and a digital experience that are more inclusive and compelling—showcasing the Center as a living, breathing community for scholars and thinkers, educators and students, and knowledge-seekers of all kinds.”
A Digital Gateway
A vital way of facilitating and building that community is the launch of the new National Humanities Center website. Developed with input from scholars, educators, and other NHC community members, the site was engineered for intuitive navigation, making it easier than ever for participants to find and access NHC programs.
Beyond its updated aesthetic, the website offers a robust intellectual archive featuring easily searchable digital collections of educational resources, recordings, and other products of the Center’s work from the past 50 years. This repository will continue to grow, with new collections to be added in the coming months, ensuring the Center’s scholarly output remains a public good.
A Contemporary Vision for Knowledge
The National Humanities Center’s redesigned logo features a clean, sophisticated aesthetic that utilizes the “N” and “H” in its name and shades of blue to evoke the iconic windows in the NHC’s building, which will be familiar to anyone who has visited the Center’s campus over the past 50 years.
In addition, the new visual identity includes a modernized color palette and aesthetic representing knowledge, growth, and the intersection of diverse ideas.
Engaging a Broader Community
The rebranding and website relaunch are specifically tailored to resonate with a broad, multigenerational audience—including university scholars, K–16 educators, policymakers, and emerging graduate students. By modernizing its digital and print presence, the NHC aims to better champion the value of the humanities in a democratic society for decades to come.
As of May 4, 2026, the Center’s new website is live. The National Humanities Center’s new logo and visual identity elements are being rolled out and integrated across all NHC platforms, including digital newsletters and social media channels in the weeks ahead.
