Fellowship Work Summary, 2019–20

Victor Goldgel Carballo wrote three chapters of his book manuscript Passing as Open Secret: Fiction and Disavowal in Nineteenth-Century Cuba. He also wrote an article for Atlantic Studies entitled “Forty-One Years a Slave. Agnosia and Mobility in Nineteenth-Century Cuba” (forthcoming in Spring 2021). Furthermore, he finished two chapters for edited volumes: “Abolitionisms,” in Fernando Degiovanni and Javier Uriarte (eds.) Cambridge Transitions in Latin American Literature, Volume 3 (1870–1930) Cambridge UP (forthcoming spring 2021); and “Pirate Book Aesthetics in Contemporary Argentina,” in Goldgel-Carballo, Víctor and Juan Poblete (eds.) Piracy and Intellectual Property in Latin America: Rethinking Creativity and the Common Good (Routledge, 2020). Lastly, he also finished editing the above mentioned interdisciplinary volume Piracy and Intellectual Property in Latin America: Rethinking Creativity and the Common Good.
