Fellowship Work Summary, 2019–20

Dennis Trout completed six chapters of his monograph in progress, Monumental Verse: Poetry, Cityscape, and Authority in Late Ancient Rome, to be published by the University of California Press. Together with his coauthors Marco Conti and Virginia Burrus, he revised, proofed, and indexed The Lives of Constantina: Introduction, Texts, Translations, and Commentary (Oxford University Press, 2020). He submitted two journal articles, both of which were accepted for publication: “Sagax animo: Jonas of Bobbio and the Epitaph of Pope Honorius,” for Early Medieval Europe, forthcoming 2021; and “Poets and Readers in Seventh-Century Rome: Pope Honorius, Lucretius, and the Doors of St. Peter’s” for Traditio: Studies in Ancient and Medieval History, Thought, and Religion (Cambridge University Press, 2020).
