Nature Transformed: The Environment in American History




CD-ROM, "American Environmental History"

A CD-ROM, "American Environmental History," created by Carolyn Merchant, University of California, Berkeley, is available at no charge to educators who wish to use it in their classrooms.

The CD is designed for use in any American Environmental History course or with the text Major Problems in American Environmental History, ed. Carolyn Merchant (Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1993). It was funded by a grant from the National Humanities Center and by the College of Natural Resources at the University of California, Berkeley.

The CD contains:
  • a U.S. map with interactive icons
  • 15 chapters with over 200 pages of text
  • 500 illustrations and maps
  • 30 interactive panoramas
  • 15 interactive crossword puzzles
  • 15 bibliographies with discussion questions
  • a comprehensive Table of Contents
